OLYMPUS

A RACE AGAINST TIME

A New Musical written by Chris Chambers and Ian Rae

On the eve of the Olympics, a freak bolt of lightning sends a British athlete into a coma, hurling him back through time, to the slopes of Mount Olympus in Greece and the very first Olympic Games. There, he is ordered by Zeus, the King of the ancient Gods, to bring two young lovers together to prevent war between Sparta and Athens. Success in this mission will take him back to the future, but can he win this race against time?

Based on Romeo and Juliet, set in ancient Greece with the rivalry between Sparta and Athens, Olympus was showcased at the Questors Theatre in London in April and then staged, as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's Open Stages initiative with its premiere at the Ashcroft Theatre Croydon 9th - 12th May 2012 and at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall 17th - 19th May 2012 to coincide with the arrival of the Olympic Torch at Land's End
